Brant (Branta bernicla hrota)

Normally found along the NC upper coast, this flock was a surprise near Raleigh, NC at Lake Crabtree County Park in Wake Co.
Brant (Branta bernicla hrota) The Brant fed on the lawn for several days, allowing many local birders excellent views of this inland rarity.

This flock seemed to be a family group of two adults and 3 immatures. The immatures lacked white neck markings and showed obvious wing bars.

This photograph was taken at ~4X with a Nikon 4500 "point-and-shoot" digital cameral. The photos below were digiscoped with the same camera through a KOWA spotting scope at various magnifications.
