Brant(Branta bernicla hrota)
Normally found along the NC upper coast, a flock was a surprise near Raleigh, NC at Lake Crabtree County Park in Wake Co.

The photos below were digiscoped with the same camera through a KOWA spotting scope at various magnifications.The Brant fed on the lawn for several days, allowing many local birders excellent views of this inland rarity.This flock seemed to be a family group of two adults and 3 immatures. The immatures lacked white neck markings and showed obvious wing bars.
