Dovekie (Alle alle)

In North Carolina, Dovekies occur irregularly offshore in winter, especially along the Outer Banks and rarely seen from shore. In some winters, they are reported in good numbers, yet in other winters they none is reported.

Dovekies are very small birds, so it takes a watchful eye to spot them sitting on the ocean from a boat!
