Like other species in the Procellariidae, fulmars fly with quick wingbeats alternating with stiff-winged glides in which one wing is often tipped down toward the water. | ||

Light phase birds are much more common off NC than other morphs. Fulmars show white at base of inner primaries and have a gray rump and tail. | ||
