Tree Swallow(Tachycineta bicolor)

Rare to uncommon breeder in the western half of NC, Tree Swallows are increasing in the breeding season in this state. Locally abundant along the coast in migration and in winter. Flocks of thousands may be seen over large fields, marshes, or tornadically descending on Wax Myrtle shrubs as they feed on berries & bugs.
