White Checkered-Skipper (Burnsius albezens, Pyrgus albescens)

Tropical species flying in the southern US from coastal California to coastal North Carolina.

Formerly placed in the genus Pyrgus, which is how it appears in current field guides, recent taxonomic research supports placing it in the genus Burnsius. Additinoally it was realized the correct spelling of the specific epithet is with a "z" rather than "sc".
