Brown Spiketail (Cordulegaster bilineata)

Perhaps common in the NC mountains and uncommon in the rest of the state. Currently we have records for scattered piedmont counties and for the western portion of the coastal plain.

Differentiated by the similar Twin-spotted Spiketail in that Brown Spiketails average smaller in size and the paired abdomen spots are generally all similar sized (Twin-spotted's spots vary).
