Widespread in western North America from the Rocky Mountains westward.

This large toad is native to western North America from Alaska to California. Populations are in serious decline in many areas, mostly likely due to pollution and diseases such as chytridiomycosis.

This youngster was barely an inch long.

This youngster (and several others) was found around 4000 feet elevation in a grove of Western Redcedar (Thuja plicata).

Adults usually have a prominent creamy dorsal stripe, often lacking in young ones.
