Mallotus sp. Edge of access trail to New Hope Creek Bottomlands, Durham Co., NC 26 Oct 2009 Not known from the wild in NC, there are about 140 species of this mostly Asian genus. The Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh lists two species (M. apelta and M. japonicus) in their collection. I'm not sure which this is or even if it is one of those. Thanks go to Mel Turner for IDing the genus. | |
